Lusort in Portugal

Lusort, the company responsible for the Vilamoura undertaking, is preparing to start the second phase of the urbanization of this important tourist resort. The company is counting on Securitas, with whom it has had a partnership for 11 years, to guarantee that its new and ambitious project has the highest levels of security.

High quality real estate promotion and construction, specifically in Vilamoura, is the main activity of Lusort, which also ensures the management of the respective marina with more than a thousand mooring posts. The Vilamoura Marina was the first marina to be constructed in Portugal and continues to be the largest in the country.
Lusort belongs to the Cordobês Prasa Group and to Procam, of the Real Estate Group of Caixa da Catalunha.

The New Lusort Project for Vilamoura (Lacustre City) has a total construction area of over 602 thousand square meters; 380 thousand of these are residential areas, almost 33 thousand are commerce and services areas and approximately 190 thousand square meters are tourist and hotel complexes.

In Lusort’s global strategy, the security component is vital. Knowing that not only Vilamoura, but the whole country and the Algarve are considered to be the second safest areas in the whole of Europe, Lusort has invested in the reinforcement of this extremely important differentiating factor, which is a surplus value it wants to preserve to the utmost.

“Our focus is to raise the levels of security, particularly those involving the Vilamoura Marina,” said Engineer Jorge Moedas. “For that we have our partner Securitas, which watches over the security of Vilamoura 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to safeguard our assets and those of our clients. The security service is increased during the summer so as to keep up with the increased flow of visitors. We made a very significant investment in our Central Security Station in order to guarantee total supervision. The fact that Securitas, as our security partner, belongs to a global group, is a decisive factor for us, as the company has the technical skills and the possibility to update the means and capacity to meet the great challenges they are faced with here. Securitas has integrated solutions: know-how, suitable human resources and equipment, as well as their maintenance. It is keeping up with our evolution at a technological level and that of best practice.”

Lusort evaluates the 11-year partnership with Securitas as very positive and considers their actions in the prevention area to be very important.

“We are confident that Securitas will follow Vilamoura’s dynamic growth,” said Carlos Rodrigues, Chief of Security and Operational Coordination. “In Lacustre city we must have very high levels of security and the capacity to find solutions.”

Rodrigues also mentioned that there is excellent cooperation with the local police (National Republican Guard) and with other entities, namely the maritime and customs authorities, which is also a guarantee of the maximum security situation that Lusort wants for Vilamoura and its new project.

“We are very optimistic for the future,” concluded Engineer Jorge Moedas. “We believe we have in hand the most important project for the Algarve and for Portugal.”
