Securitas Sweden AB is a nationwide supplier to PEAB AB and PEAB Industri AB and supplies monitoring solutions in the form of personal services and physical protection for both PEAB's office and many of the nearly 900 different building sites throughout Sweden.

PEAB was founded in 1959 by the brothers Erik and Mats Paulsson and currently has a turnover in the billions as a contractor for the construction industry. It is sad enough that it is a business where you have to assume that there is a "threat" to personnel and property:
"The risk of accidents, but also burglary, theft and threats from various activists are common occurrences in the construction industry. But we are doing everything we can to minimize damage through training, education and regulations with good follow-up," explains Mattias Önnerdal, security manager at PEAB.

PEAB's construction sites are restricted from the public due to the high risk of injury. PEAB follows industry standards at all of their facilities by using the ID06 identification card. An ID card that also works as an access control card to regulate people entering and exiting the construction site. It is also a good system to determine how many people are inside the worksite and also to keep unauthorized personnel out. It also allows for delivery inspection of incoming material as well as exit control for personnel to prevent theft. The monitoring is also supplemented with a stationary guard from Securitas who welcomes visitors and administers and manages visitor cards and UE cards for subcontractors.

"Being prepared for the unexpected is part of the job. PEAB is a big player in the construction industry which can end up in the spotlight in a split second. There are also big demands on security staff who may not be strangers to sudden incidents. A fire can break out in a building or an accident can occur, which requires fast reactions and well-practiced routines. A safe and secure working environment for personnel, contractors and subcontractors is something we are always working towards. However, it is important not to be too obsessed with security so that you believe everything is life-threatening”, says Mattias Önnerdal.
